Social Life Documents Division Reading Room

The Social Life Documents Department Reading Room of the Ossolineum Library is located on the first floor of the building at 24 Soltysowicka Street.

The Reading Room has four seats and is accessible to people with disabilities.

It provides registered readers with access to documents of social life, i.e. objects which are neither books, nor periodicals, nor official documents (these go to the archives); these are mainly documents of short-term usage value (e.g. posters, theatre programmes, etc.).

Information on social documents can be found in the card catalogue on site. The collection of reference books, which can be used in the Division's reading room, comprises about 1,400 titles and is constantly growing.

Restrictions on the use of the collection in the reading room apply only to

• rare prints
• specially protected items made available primarily for research and publication purposes, and
• those whose poor state of preservation does not allow them to be made available in their original form.
